Project Scope: To design and build a reliable and robust power generation system for powering reefer freight on rail
Details: Under stringent and structural and environmental standards Pace Power and Air Ltd was engaged to design, manufacture and fit reliable, high quality power generator serviced refrigeration (GSR) equipment for KiwiRail Freight. The overarching requirement was to improve the reliability of power supply on New Zealand's rail network.
The specification covered the design, manufacture, and installation of the 10ft Containerised Generator Set (GSR) as well as installation and commissioning of the associated wiring and electronics onto a KiwiRail IHR2 Wagon.
Innovative control technology was built into the system to ensure power was not lost during transit thus ensuring a robust and reliable chilled goods rail service.
